A two-month voyage circling the Land Down Under was terminated in the wake of the death of an senior woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the excursion for a rest. The vessel departed without her and went back later that day after the personnel discovered the woman was missing.

A major search operation located her body the subsequent day.

Officials are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with investigators and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the shipping company said that travelers and staff on the vessel were informed that the remainder of the journey had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and earlier mechanical issues".

"From the little details we have been told, it seems that there was a breakdown of responsibility and basic judgment," she mentioned.

She continued that she hoped the inquiry would be able to identify what "the organization should have undertaken that might have preserved Mum's existence".

"We understand from the investigators that it was a very hot period, and mother became unwell on the hill climb," she stated.

"They requested her to return, unescorted. Then the vessel sailed away, seemingly without conducting a roll call.

"At some stage in that chain of events, or shortly after, mum died, alone."

Operator Response

Through an announcement, the Head confirmed that the company was "working closely with investigators to aid their investigation".

He said that the organization was "deeply sorry that this has transpired" and had provided its complete assistance to the relatives.
