Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
